Nissan India is soon going to launch the sedan/saloon version of its popular hatchback Micra which is expected to be named Sunny. Nissan Sunny is already sold in many countries and it is expected that Nissan India is going to bring the Sunny brand name to India like Volkswagen have carried over the "Vento" name for the sedan version of Polo for Indian Market.
The Sunny is based on the the ‘V-platform’, a platform which has been designed primarily to make financial sense in emerging markets. In India the Nissan Sunny will be launched by May, 2011 and will be powered by a 1.5 liter four-cylinder petrol engine producing 100bhp and the 1.5 liter diesel that powers the current Micra.
